About 7 o'clock tonight the fruit house and Jarge bank barn of William Leisear, residing im the sixth district of Howard county and about one mile from Laurel, were totally de- stroyed by fire. The fire was evidently the act of an incendiary, as it started in the entry of the fruit house, and the rapidity with which the b was on Ta Games indionted that coal oil or other mable material had been used. Mr. Leizear, who was seated in his house when the fire started, lost no time in saving the horses and cattle, which were in tho barn about fifty feet from the burning build- ing, but, with the exception of one none of his vehicles and fa tmplements were saved. ‘The heat from the fruit house, ite every effort made to prevent it, fired the and it, too, was consumed, to- gether with the large amount of hay, fodder ‘and oatg it contained. ‘The loss is estimated at from $7,000 to $3,000, and there was no insur- ance.
