An opinion of importance in its construction of the immigration laws was rendered in the United States Supreme Court today in the case of Nishimura kin, appellant, against the United States. Nishimura Ekin is a Japanese woman, to whom entry into the United States was refused by the immigration officers and collector at San Francisco on the ground that she was likely to become a public charge. It was also alleged that she was coming to the United States for immoral purposes, The ruling of the immigration officers was con- tested. and it was sought to have the federal courts, on an application for writ of habeas corpus, review the facts in the case.
