THE EVENING STAR: WASHINGTON. D.C. T a. a The Nominating Convention to Ee Held Probably In December. It is expected that when the national republi- can committee meets here on the 234 some day in ‘May, 1892, will be selected for the national convention. Immediately after this mecting the republican central committee of the Dis- trict will be called together and the committee ‘will take the usual steps to put an end to its own existence and to call a new committee into being. The present committee, of which M: A. E. & Davis is chairman, was elected and or- ganized just prior to the Willard Hall conven- tion which chose delegates to the Inst national republican convention in 1888. The central committee will iesue a call tothe orgenizations in the twenty-two old legislative districts to hold conventions or primaries and elect in each ense three members to represent the District in the new central committee. The new committee, if the usual program is followed, will be or- ganized nt once and issue a call for a District convention to elect two delegates to the national convention. There bas been some talk of changing the methods of electing delegates from the several districts to the District con- vention, but those in favor of the old-fashioned ies seem to be in the majority. The ict convention will, be compesed of 110 five from each distri is expected Tat tae ‘sow central’ committee will be and ready for business early in December, snd that the nominating convention will be held by the 15th of that month. Atany rate Mr. Perry H. Carson ex- ts that the delegates will be named before ristmas. Perry H. Carson and Andrew Giee- son will, it is said, be backed by what is called the Carson faction, the faction that has usually won. There are evidences, however, that the Chase faction is at work, and it may have a sur- prise for the convention. It has been eustom- ary to send one white and one colored delegate. Mr. Chase is talked of. Commissioner Doug- lass, Daniel E. Cabill and ex-Mayor Sayles J. Bowen are also regarded as candidates. Com- missioner Douglass has not, it isstated, taken any steps to secure it, but a number of active republicans on their own motion are making an effort to bring about his election. a THE LATE OLIVER DUFOUR. Committee of Odd Fellows Appointed to Arrange tor the Funeral. ‘The different sbodies of Odd Fellows with which the late Oliver Dufour was connected met last night in the blue room of Odd Fellows’ Hall, 7th street northwest, to perfect arrange- ments for his funeral. M., Naomi Lodge, No. 1, D. of R,, Veteran Association, and the board of trustees of Odd Fellows were appointed to make all necessary arrangements for the funeral, which will take place Sunday after- noon at 2:30 o'clock from St. Andrew's Church, 14th and Corcoran streets. Fish and Game Deaiers Celebrate. The representative fish and game dealers of this city had a jolly good time yesterday after- noon, and celebrated the opening of the fail and winter season with « grand oyster roast at ‘the Lith street wharf. It was a royal feast, for if those who sell fish and game are not judges there are no epicures. ‘They outdid them- selves yesterday, and the table set, though rude ig construction, was rich in the choicest delica- cies of the season. Everybody enjoyed the oc- casion, and the dancing of the old fishermen to the tune of an old Virginia break down and the songs they sang were interesting and amusing.
