Arrangements for the Event Are Now Nearly Completed. ‘The arrangements for the reception and din- ner to ex-President Cleveland at Sandwich Sat- urday next, says a Boston special, ure now nearly completed. A special express train, carrying the governor, with the members of the executive council and the staff who accom- pany him, will leave the Old Colony station at 9am. This train will carry the other invited guests, but will also be open to all purchasers of excursion tickets. A stop will be made at Buzzara’s Bay to take Mr. Cleveland on board, and the train is ex- pected to arrive at Sandwich about 11 o'clock. If the weather is fair Mr. Cleveland and Gov. Russell will walk up from the station to the large tent in which the public reception takes and place. ‘The reception will continue until 12:30 and dinner will be served at 1 o'clock. About 800 persons will be seated in the: Casino and 200 more will dine inan annex tentand will come into the Casino om end of the dinner, be- fore the speaking begins. Geo. T. COOMBS REMEMBERED. Members of the Examining Corps Testify Their Regard for Bim. Capt. J, M. Coombs of the watch force of the Interior Department received a message while he was on duty yesterday afternoon that some one wanted to see him in one of the rooms of the patent office. Supposing that it was some business he went to the room, and to his sur- prise found it crowded with members of tho examining corps. Ho was still more surprised when Mr. J. Q-Rice stepped forward and in behalf of the examining corps presented him with a gold-headed cane. The condition of mind into which he was thrown by the suddenness of the entire af- fair rendered him incapable of following with attention the flowingand sparkling periods of Mr. Rice's eloquent effort, and he was there- fore not Prepared to make an extended xpecch in reply.
