A LAEGER NUMBER OF ENTRIES AND SOME EXCITING CONTESTS ANTICIFATED—FULL LIST OF THE PARTICIPANTS IN THE SEVERAL EVENTO—THE OFFICIALS WHO WILL BE IN CRARGE. The open sports of the Columbia Athletic Club will take place tomorrow afternoon on Analostan Island. The details of the prepara- tions have been practically completed, and the island is in good shape. The track is thought to be in as speedy a shape as ever, and some very interesting events are anticipsted. As the men are all handicapped the races and other contests will undoubtedly be close and exciting. At present it is next to impossible to “pick the winners.” The handicaps have not yet been announced, nor will they be until the Programs are issued tomorrow afternoon. A LAROE NUMBER OF ENTRIES. ‘The entries are unusually large and include seversi of the most prominent athletes of the east. As a vemlt of the report of Commander Evane’ board, which conducted the recent tests of the dynamite guns of the Vesuvius at Fort Monroe, Ya, the Navy Department bas decided to make further tests of the guns. The board asked for 108 projectiles. The unprecedented rains of the past three weeks have started pepper grass in many North Dakota counties in the Red River valley, and it has already become so rank that many fields of wheat will not be worth cutting. Judge Beatty McClelland, one of the oldest and best known jurists in Indiana, was stricken with paralysis while walking on the street in Jolumbus, Ind., Wednesday and is dying. He is eighty-one years of age. — +0. Gen. Stonewall Jackson's Body Moved. Early yesterday morning the body of Gen. T. J. Jackson was taken by order of the com- mittee in charge of the monument from the grave in the Lexington, Va., cemetery, where it was interred at the time of his death, and placed in the vault over which the monument is now building and which will be unveiled on the 2ist of July. The vault was sealed up per- manently. It was Mrs. Jackson's request that the body be removed in the night and that no one should know of it but the committee in charge. This Fequest was complied with. The coffins of her little child and his daughter, Mrs. Christian, were also removed to the vault. Dollie Davis’ Double Identified. The suicide, which was st first thought to be Dollie Davis, was identified last night at Tarrytown by Mr. Frank Atwood of Philadel- phia as hisfwife. Mr. Atwood came to Tarry- town last night on the 7 o'clock train with his little girl Louise. He said that his wife ran away from him about two years and five months ago, end that he has been trying to find her ever since. The chief of pelice wanted him to remsin in Tarrytown ail night, but he decided not to do this and said he would return today. Mr. Atwood said that he hada brother- in-law in Youkers, named Herbling, who was a candy manufacturer. re Col. Hinton in San Francisco. Special Agent R. J. Hinton has arrived im San Francisco. He is charged with in- vestigating the irrigation system. In con- versation with a reporter he said that the finest irrigation system of the coun- try was that in use in the Bear val- ley.
