Yesterday afternoon three ladies were thrown from a carriage in the public grounds near the bridge over the Baltimore and Potomac rail- toad tracks in 6th street. Mrs. Baker, matron at St. Elizabeth's: Mrs. Dr. Blackburn and Mrs. Reese of Anacostia were in the carriage and were driving over the bridge. The horse be- came frightened by an engine on the track and running away collided with a tree. They were all three thrown out and were taken to a resi- dence near by, where Dr. McWilliams attended them. Mrs Baker wus found to have been badly bruised and to have received a severe scalp wound.
