ts WITEIX THE ONF-MILE LIMIT. Several Saloon Keepers Arrested—Their Cases to Be Heard Next Week. A move has been made against persons in the one-mile limit for alleged violations of the liquor law since the passage of the one-mile limit law and the cases will be heard in the Police Court next week. ‘Those already complained against are Michael Garvey, Ignatius Nau and James Gallagher. ‘They are charged with keeping ber rooms with- @ut e license and also with furnishing liquor to inmates of the Sokliers’ Home. Under the inw it is not necessary to prove « sale to the inmates of the home, bat simply the furnishing of liquor. Joseph Miller, an inmate of the home, swore the out warrants for the alleged mloon keepers and they each gave real estate security for appearance. ——- A NEW BANK BUILDING. ‘The Old Seaton Hall Property Bought and to Be Improved. ‘The Lincoln National Bank has purchased from Mr. N. L. Anderson the property at the northwest corner of %th and D streets, known as the Seaton Hall building. In the case of the United States against G. W. Cooper and others—-to restrain the cutting of trees within the lines of the Rock Creek Park— number of the parties interested have filed demurrers on the ground that complainants have not stated a case entitling them to relief. Mr. L. P. Shoemaker has, by T. A. Lambert, filed answer, in which he denies that the re- cording of the map vested title in the United tutes; arserts that the Lill does not show such community of interests as entitles the com- plainants to the relief asked; denies that he wantonly cut down trees and says that what trees were eut down by him wore 90 cus for the purpose of improvement, and while admitting Uist the land is'not of great value for agré cultural purposes, he asserts that it was valua~ ble as a villa site, for which purpose he removed the trees, dc. ‘The rule to show cause was on Saturday last made returnable by Judge Hugner today, but Distriet Attorney Cole being engaged in the Circuit Court the case went over. —————— AMUSEMENTS.
