Despite the inclement weather this morning there was the usual number of spectators in the Police Court, although there were but sixteen prisoners in the duck. Mabel Woods, a young colored woman, was called upon to explain a charge of disorderly conduct. Policeman John J. Smith explained the girl's conduct on the street at an unusual hour of the night She had been with « wale companion. “Judge, your hgnor, I was on my way home from church,” said Mabel, “and the policeman arrested me for nothing. ‘The oificer told of a statement made by Ma- bef's aunt and the court imposed a fine of #5. Chas. Wilson, colored, was found among the wagons at the Center Market this morning be- fore daybreak and he was sentenced to months as a «uspicious pereon. Geo. Bat Andrew Taylor Will Be Examined as to His Mental Condition. “They are after me,” said Andrew Taylor, a colored man, who went to the first precinct sta- tion yesterday and asked to be sent to the work house. “And they are going to kill me,” he added. That was the third time within ten days that Taylor has surrendered to the care of the police, and each time his peculiar actions indi- cated that his mind was affected. When he was called in the station this morn- ing to go out to the “Black Maria” he at first declined to go because he said his mother was in the cell, and there were men outside who wanted to kill him. “Bun quick,” he thought the officers told him, and when he reached court in the closed vehicle he imagined that he bad been out in the rain and was soaking wet.
