What is going on at headquarters and armories, en WASHINGTON SOCIETY, A Notable Wedding in Prospect—Some Personal Notes. The engagement is announced of Miss May Potts of this city, daughter of the late Mr. Audrew Ross Potts, and Mr. John Nuble Stearne of New York. Mr. Stearne belongs to the old New York family of Schemerhorn Stearns, and is associated with his father in a large silk manufacturing business near the metropolis. ‘The marriage will take place early in Decem- ber. The ceremony will be performed in Ascension Church in the evening, and will be followed by ao email reception at the residence of Mrs. Potts on G street, corner of 19th street. This event will be the first occasion of opening the house vince the family went tuto mourning two years ago for the head of the family. The conipany myvited for the reception will consist of the families of the high contracting parties. An interesting feature of the wedding will be the introduction on that occasion of the second daughter, Miss Rebecca Potts, to society. Mrs. Louise Stevenson Maurice, who is well known in this city for many years, and Lieut. Col. J. G. Chandler, U.8.A., who was for some years in the quartermaster general’s office here, were married in Harrisburg, Pa., last month. ‘They are now in San Francisco, to which post Col. Chandler has been transferred. Judge and Mrs. and the Misses James have re- tarned to the city for the winter and are located in their own residence. ‘The Vicomtesse de Tibour and her daughter are at their residence in Farragut square after an absence of four years in Europe. Mrs. Burnham, wife of Capt. Burnham, and her son (Master Ralph Burnham) have returned from Europe after w year's absence. Master Ralpb met with an accident during a storm on the voyage, having broken his arm. The Rock Creek Park and the Zoological Park are to be invaded tomorrow by adozen or more men armed with photographic apparatus of all sorts and in all conditions, The Camera Club of this city, composed of a number of enthu- siastic amateurs in the art of button pressing, is on the eve of one of its quarterly outings and tonight there will be @ lively polishing of lense: id filling of plate holders as prepara- tious are made forthe fall fieldwork. This outing is planned to extend over two day Saturday and Sunday—as some of the members of the club caunot go on Saturday and othere will not goon Sunday.
