In the Equity Court today Judge Cox gave his decision in the case of Camack et al, against the District Commissioners and the Electric Heat and Power Company to restrain the mak- ing of « contract for electric lighting, &c. The court directed that the complainants dismiss the bill without prejudice, each party to pay its own costs, The judge stated that in 1886 the Commissioners were authorized to con- tract for lighting the city with gas at a cost not exceeding €20 per annum per lamp and to sub- stitute other illuminating material on one or more of the principal streets at a cost notex- ceeding $10,000, and since then the appropria- tion for other illuminating material had been increased to $46,000. It seemed to him thit the appropriation looked to the employment of such lighting as an experiment. The act of 1889 made the appropriation for gas and gave authority to substitute other illuminating ma- terial at the same or less price, and the Com- missioners were prohibited from putting up JOR SALE—STONE SCREENINGS—LIME STON. O'Neill, While in the Custody of ® Policeman, Shoots Wm. White. Last evening about 7 o'clock the steamer Samuel J.
