In his report Mr. Wade | Says that ithasbeen made to appear to the eommitiee oa labor that the wages paid to cer- j tain of the laborers in the employ of the gor- ernment is oniy $1.25 per day. and in some in- stances these laborers are permitted to work only half time, this maxing the total pay only 915 per month. Tho committee (says the re- port) believe that fair living wages should be paid by the government to all laborers in its employ and they think that the passage of the Dill an act of justice will be done laborers in gov- ernment employ and a precedent will be es- tablished of great benefit to the wage workers of the country. Four Constables Sev:rely Wounded by Disorderly Crowds. 4 Londoa special cable dispatch last night says: Quiotacss prevailed throughout the en- tire metropolitan police force today, but to- ward night disorderly crowds began to gather in the streets and the scenes of last night were repeated. The Prinee and Princess of Wales visited the opers again, but this time they es- caped contact with the mobs, The police were all on duty. None of the men have strack, and the general impression is that the trouble in that respect is ali over. A particularly disor- derly crowd gathered in Bow street, in the vicinity of the taverns, They drank freely and started several fights. There were a number of ugly rushes during the evening, but the mounted police sufficed to preserve a sem- blance of order early in the evening. The shops were closed early and the night police went on duty ly.
