The changes made by the committee were for the purpose of carrying out the views of the Senate as expressed in the debate upon the original bill. As reported | the substitute provides for an inspection at the | Place of killing of cattle and hogs, the car- casses of which are the subjects of interstate commerce previous to their slaughter, in all cases when the Secretary of Agriculture deems it necessary or expedicnt. A post mortem examination of carcayses intended to be further prepared for _ consumption at canning establishments or elsewhere may also be ordered by the Secretary of Agriculture. In cuse of the discovery of any diseased animal or carcass it shall be destroyed; also any pro- duct of such carcass found to be unfit for human consumption. Penalties are provided for selling condemned animals, carcasses or products thereof, or transporting them from one state to another, or any uninspected Animal or carcass, The bill is to take effect in ninety days after passage. The title is amended to read as follows: “A Dill to provide for the inspection of live stock about to be slaughtered at slaughter hous canning, salting. packing and rondering estab- lishments, aud the carcasses and products of the same which are intended for human con- sumption in any state or territory other than where slaughtered or for exportation to for- imy weet ie done” mail to Wolff & ‘One sinzle bringing ove hundred and teen- ty-soren toast ‘sounds as though some people Koes tho wort of Wolfs AGME Blacking Chey the people who use it right, READ DIREC- Trove und fellow them to the letter. ‘Thank good- ines there are enough of them ty uailuenee those who ‘won't read or can’t read.
