Larrabee's message is a very lengthy document, making about 7,000 words. It touches upon almost every subject of interest to the state. He urges the adoption of the Australian ballot system and that women be permitted to vote at muni- cipal elections, He deals at great length with the railroad question, urges the adoption of appliances to minimize the danger to employes im making up trains, and that no more trains be rum on Sunday than are absolutely neces- sary. Railroads, he says, should more at- tention to the improvement of their property and should be compelied to do away with all old wooden bridges. Railroad trusts and like combinations are condemned. Sr. Lours, Feb. 14.—The Farmers loan and trust company of New York bas made applica- tion in the United States circuit court for the appointment of a receiver of the Central Mis- souri railroad company, the main line of which extends from Kansas City to a point opposite Alton, iL, with a branch road to St. Louis, a distance of 25 miles, and another road to Fay- ette, Mo.. which is 12 miles long. The road was bonded to the Cleveland, St. Louis and Kansas City road for $3,000,000 and by the later company to the Central trust company of New York for 27.000,000. The bonds were issued in 1885, bearing 5 per cent interest. The number of miles embraced in the main line is 280. The liens against the road amount to some $125,000. ‘The petitioners pray that the court issue a writ of subpeena, to be directed to the defend- ant road and the several other defendants,com- yaending them to appear iu court and answer to the petition for a mecctver. On the Pipes ticket Arthur Hendricks is named for the position of senior vice and A. F, Dinsmore for junior vice commander, It is claimed by the supporters of both of these tickets that they have enough votes now to elect, but it is evident that one side or the other is mistaken.
