The first stage of development is generally given to place for suburban residences by the “booming’* management of real estate syndicates or railroad manipulators, There is no indication which shows with greater certainty that s place has successfully passed its “first stage” than the faith shown in the value oftheir investments by those living in it when they undertake public improvements of a permanent character requir- ing @ larxe capital. ‘The second stage of development carries the place from an unincorporated village to an incorporated town, By the co-operation made possible through au- thorized town government the advantages of city and country are quickly combined, ull property acquires substantial value, and population is attracted in in- creasingly large numbers, ‘Many of our citizens are familiar with the wonderfal strides that have been made by the growth of Takoma Park, than which no healthier or pleasanter place for s residence lies within the reach of suburban travel from Washington. But few who do not reside there— in fact, few of those who do—fully realize the greater development upon which the beautiful suburb is about toenter. One of the best evidences of this may be found in the recent organization of the Takoma Park electric light and power company, with an au- thorized capital of $50,000, for the purpose of in- stalling a central station plant of sufticient capacity to thoroughly light all atreets and residences, ‘The Reynolds system is to be used. When thie plant is in operation the advantages of Takoma Park in respect to public and private lighting will be superior to those of Washington. In no part of this city can residences be lighted by electricity as they will soon be lighted in Takoma Park. This electric company is no speculativeaffuir. Ite officers all reside im the park, and are deeply interested in its welfare. ‘They are as follows: President, Enoch Maris; Vice President, Henry A. Cady; Secretary, Orlando D. Suta- my; Treasurer, Joseph R. Johnson, Directors.—Thos. E. Woods, Geo. L. Favorite, P. C. Don, jr., E. Doug- Jaws, J- Owen Dorsey and the officers, has o basis us solid as real estate, In fact, it int re reat es! wae) Every lot owner knows the that for every twenty dollars he invests in this company he can realize one hundred dollars in the value of any lot he Tay bold, aud this without parting with his tock 1 the clectrle, curmpeny._ Who woul not willingly ray gue hundred dollars more fora lot situated where the iahted, than be would fur the same er saimiiar] fot sltnated whore much advantages cannot be ol An electric lighting and power plant, costing not more than three tills per wquare foot, for all the prop. erty in the park will raise the entire valuation ut least one cent per foot within a single year. ‘The plant will 4 permament improvement and the increased valu- ation will also be permanent, “here will electric road to Takoma Park some day; Whenfeople become accustomed to electricity ‘nothing else is quick enough to satisty them, i —_— KINDLY CALL. ‘We shall be pleased to show you our GAS FIXTUBES.
