Mr. Cadet Taylor, the chief clerk of the Gov- ernment Printing sffice, has resigned and Mr. Rounds, the publie printer, has appointed Mr. Gilbert Benedict, of New York state, in his place. The latter is a brother of the Mr. Bene- dict whom the President has selected to suc- ceed Mr. Hounds and he is expected to assume the duties of his new position at 12 o'clock to- morrow, The new public printer will relieve Mr. Rounds on the 15th of September, and in ‘the meantime his brother, who has been man- aging his newspaper at Ellenville, N. ¥., will make himself familiar with the office, 80 as to be of assistance to the new public printer when he takes charge. It is belleved that that part of the order con- cerning the Washington navy yard which abolishes the bureau of yards and docks will be reconsidered.
