A DIVISION AMONG THE ALUMNI—JWO MEETINGS AND TWO ELEOTIONS. Owing to a division among the alumni of the Wayland Seminary two alumni meetings were held last night, one at the 19th street Baptist Church and the other at the Seminary building. The faction that met at the 19th street Baptist Church last night heid a’ business meeting Wed- nesday evening, and elected the following officers: R. H. Porter, president; E. Duncan,vice president; Miss Margaret Washington, treasurer; J. W. Gar- ris, recording secretary; P. W. Pulley, correspond- Ing secretary. A resolution was adopted declaring that the principal of the seminary bad trampled upon their sacred rights, and had maltreated, be- yond endurance, students, undergraduates, and even members of the alumni; that the assault upon Miss ry E Williams, which resuited in the ar- Test of the principal, was but the culmination of a long series of abuses and insults, and that therefore they would not meet at Wayland so long a> that Institution ts under !ts present adminis- tration.
