It is known that in the regular workings of nature many billions of fish are annually lost by the destruction in onr streams, in various ways, of the egg after it is Aeposited. To obviate this, and to actually improve on Nature has been the colonel’s object, and thathe has succeeded there is no manner of doubt; his invention. the ‘Automatic Fish Hatching Jar,” an instrument which hehas himself devised, and put into operation, each of which, although containing not more than « gallon of water, has a producing capacity of from se enty to eighty thousand fish, clearly proves this.
