The principal work in connectioa with the reopening to-day—and perhaps it will extend over the next few days—was the trans- terring of the more advanced puplis to higher rade schools, so that, with the exception or the rst grade schools, it may be said that none were fully organized to-day. Children holdiog Uckets of admission will not present them until to-morrow. This afternoon the number of vacanetes in cach school will be reported to the principals. Besides the ordinary transfers in the first and third district, the necessity of arranging for the opening of the schools fn the Force building, in the first, and the Peabody building in the third district made additional work. It was requisite to divide the pupils as to the distance of the different butldings trom their place of residence.
