Two days of continuous rain the = Week has retarded harvest work and put back [ese annf about & week in most of the Ohio Valley, Lut this has not, necessarily, in- jured the kernel of the wheat. The fall barley which has _ not secured, will doubtless be Stained. The quailty of the winter wheat is generally good. Most of the Kentucky wheat Which has come to this market so far ts injured by smut, but that from Indiana ts tn prime order, and the /ndiana Farmer of last Saturday says that its reports from nearly all the coun- Ues in the states give assurance that the a, is unusually good in all respects, and at the yield will turn out more bushels than ever before In the history of the State. The Fultze wheat leads ail of the newer varieties In acreage and in yield, and the Clawson haS produced well. Ina few coun- tes the old Mediterranean has been largely grown. Kegarding the wheat in East Tenues- see, the Kuoxville Chronicle says that it is of ubexceptionable quality, and the amount of the crop exceeded the brightest anticipations. In some sections the yield was hardly up to exp2c- ations, but in others tt was ter, and all has been secured in condition. In Virginta and Maryland the wheat has been harvested in ta condition, and the yield and quality are th satisfactory, the crop being, it 1s thought, & full average. "In Liltnois the winter wheat is uniformly reported to be of good quality, and In Champaign avd surrounding counties the yield 1s reported to be above the average, but in some other sections the yield is not as large. In Northern and Western Missouri and in East- ern Kansas there is a large yield of wheat, and the quality is unusually good. Favorable weatber for threshing is alt that is now re- quired to secure one of the best winter wheat crops er garnered in this country.—[Cincin- nati Price Current.
