The singing at this meeting was led by Frank Wilson, with Eddie Linville playing the cor- net. The service at three o'clock was to have been conducted by the Rev. Thos. HASTY DEPARTURES. Long before the time for the departure of the trains, hundreds wended their way to the depot to enable them to secure a seat as soon as the cars arrived. There were two trains one at 5:10 and the other at 5:20. These the two trains for Washington at§ and 5 took thetmass of visitors away, while the muttering thunder and gathering Clouds aur- ried away those who came in vehicles, so that when the bell rang for service in the taber- nacle at 7:45 o’elock, only those who were tent- ing ou the ground were feit to attend the vice. The thunder, however, soon ceased and the clouds dispersed. leaving us a starry sky and no prospect of rain, although a little would be acceptable to lay the dust that gath- ered to-day and to prepare us for the numbers that usually comeon Tuesday. M FAILURE OF GOVERNOR BisHoP’s GROCERY Hovse.—The Frocer house of R. M. Bishop & ti, at the head of which is Gov. Bishop, has suspended. None of the firm's paper has gone to protest as Ri but it was leemed dest to suspend in order to reach a settlement. The neaviest creditors are in the east. The liabilities of the firm will reach $360,000; assets not made known. A meeting of creditors will be held in New York to-day, Mr. Bishop attributes his failure to shrinkage in values und inability of customers to meet their obligations. It is thought the firm can pay fifty cents on the dollar. Gen. Sam Cary has been electrifying the people of Michigan with the information that the words ‘promise to pay” upon the face of the greenbacks were not authorized by law, but were placed there by the Sceretary of the Treasury and the “Bureau of Printing and Engraving " without legal authority.
