Mrs. F. was the widow of Col. Molinard, U. 8. A., and was married to Mr. F. at Carist church, Alexandria, about a year ago. i DEATH OF MR. Joun C. Procror—Mr Jobn C. Proctor, for the past two yeurs local editor of tne Critic, died last evening at his residence, corner of W and Boundary streets— near the head of 9th street. Mr. Proctor had been !n {11 beaith for some months past, and on the 3d of July was seized with a severe billions attack, which a few days agoassumed @ typbus form. He was born May 26th, 1833, ~in Cavetown, Wasbington county, Md. He was raised on @ farm, and at 17 years of age went to learn the printing business on the old ‘Hagerstown News,” finishing nis trade in this city with Mr. Alexander. in the first ward. In 1856 he returned to Hagerstown. but came back to Washington in the early e of the war, married and settled here. le was for a time a member of THE STAR'S reportorial corps. and subsequently waa employed by the Philadelphia hy the & ican, Chronicle and Crific, of this city, filling tin ition of city editor of the Chrontcie and ic. Gonder Mayor Bowen he was the treasurer of the public schools, and many of our teachers will remember the strict and careful manner in which he dis- ebarged the duties. As a newspaper man he was an untiring and intelligent worker, kind, obliging aud generous in disposition, and friendships. A meeting in the interest of this camp meet- ing was beld last eveoing at tne Congrega- toval Chureh. Rey. J. D. Stilt, the pastor of Severn Cireu!t, M. E. Church, in whose bounds the eamp ground I located. was pre- sent and addressed the meeting. He stated ‘that It was desired to havean old-time camp Of iarge religious results—a miei one ag to economy, neatness and devoti Toey ex- pected to have snch a camp, not charging Vent sites, and the charges for lumber, erecting tents, &c., will be as low as they can possibly be made. They would prefer that the tents should be neatly arranged withont any effort at display, but there will be no interference by the committee as to the manner of arranging tents. The Lalti- more and Potomac Railroad have made very liberal arrangements and will take passea- gers and freight at reduced rates—81 round- ticket; the distance being twenty-six miles. They hope to interest all religious denominaiions, and expect that the meeting Will be profitable to all. The annual meeting of the Jackson Demo- cratic Association was held last night at Beck’s hall, president, John E. Norris, erq., in the chair. Mr. Ball, from the committee on member- | ship, reported favorably @n the applications of A. A. Wilson and Wm. Pierce Bell, and they were elected. committee ou arrangements for the ratification meeting made a report, which was adopted. THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR THE EN- SUING YEAR was next in order, and Judge Moore was cailed to the chatr. Mr, Culver in an address paid a high com- liment to Mr, Norris for his past services in the cause of democracy; and closed by nominating Mr. Robert Ball for election. Mr. Ball declined to be a idate to ran against the war horse of democracy in this District, John E. Norris, esq. Ballots were then prepared, and Mr. Norris was reelected veanimously. When the announcement was made loud applause was kept up for some time. Mr. Norris came forward with smiling | countenance, and In appropriate terms thanked the association for its confidence and the houor shown bir. Mesers. Robert Ball and Capt. James God- dard were elected vice presidents,and Colum: bus Alexander, treasurer. Dr. Charies Allen. who bas served as secretary for several Sears past, declined to be a candidate for re- election, and Mr. B. F. Lioyd was chosen his succeszor. Wm. Pierce Ball was chosen financial secretary, and C. P. Culver corres- ponding secretary. The chair stated that be would announce the standing committees at the next meet- ing. Messrs. R. 8. Davis, Columbus Alexander and Robert Ball were appointed a commit tee ioexamive the books and the late Treasurer, Mr. Jesse B. declined @ re-election. Mr. Noonan moved that the roll of mem- bers be called at the opening of future meet- ings and Lhe dues collected. r.
