The conference committee on the consular and diplomatic bill have agreed to disagree, being at & dead lock on the salaries of first- class missions. In the Senate to-day Mr. Morrill, of Maine, from the Committee on Appropriations, reported the legislative, executive and jadicial appropriation bill. EX-PoSTMASTER GENERAL CRESWELL was before the Houre Committee on Post Offices and Post Roads this morning, to ex- plain the publication of certain advertise- ments of the Post Office department, (eg to various newspapers while he was Post- master General. He was questioned con- cerning the removal of a postmaster named Moore at Walla-Walla, W. T. It was charged that Creswell removed him on ac- count of bis having furnished information against certain fraudulent mail contractors. This Mr. Creswell denied, and said that he removed bim because he had tampered with mail matter. THE MARYLAND AND VIRGINIA BOUND- ARY ARBITRATION.— Senator Whyte and Hon. Isaac D. Jones, counsel for the state of Maryland in the Maryland and Virginie boundary case, have been notified that the board of arbitration in the case will meet al Washington on the 30th instant to resume its consiceration.
