He had never refunded any money to Irwin. He was sure of that. Col He was not a relation of 8S: tor but their families were intimate. He Cole had been his wer to questions by Mr. Dawes and Mr. Niblack, witness explained why he had gone to Canada. He said he was in the oll regions when.Irwin testified, and he was sur- prised to hear the statement that he had been paid one hundred thousand dollars. He sup- posed that Irwin would correct that state. ment when he came to think of the matter. He therefore went over to Canada to think over the matter. He was in Canada only five days, and came here as soon as he received the telegraphic summons the com- mitttee. He admitted that he had made a mistake in not coming her in advance instead of going to Canada. HON. JOHN B. STORM, OF PA. appeared before the commitiee and again made a@ general denial of the imputation that he had received money whatever for the . He never owned 4 one thousand dollar bill in his life.
