Norris against the Wash- ington, Midland and Great Southern railroad was concladed, a verdict being rendered for the | plaintiff. The facts as set forth were that on ‘January 30, 1813, Mrs. Norris was on ber way bome to Fairfax Station, Va., in the cars of that company, and was for some reason carried about two miles beyond the station, where the | cars were stopped. Chadwick, affirming the decision of the Supreme Court of the District— | Judge Miller dissenting. Sykes and Chadwick sold to the Freedman's Bank the ground on which the bank is erected, and Mrs. Chadwick refused to unite in the deed—to give up her dower interest—unless she was paid $5,000. Sykes and Chadwick gave her a joint note, and it coming due, she sued Sykes on it and obtained | judgment. ‘The case was appealed to the Gen- eral Term, and the judgient below having | been affirmed, it was taken to the U. 8. Supreme Coart and argued by Messrs. Riddle and Miller for plaintiff and Merrick and Mattingly for | defendant. Distreastne DeaTH.—We are greatly pained to learn of the death of Mrs. Annie O. Fox, wife of Dr. C. A. Fox, of Beltsville, Md., tor- merly of Fairfax Court House, which occurred at ber residence at Beiteville on Satarday morning, under most distressing circumstances. Mrs. Fox had been in the habit of weighing out doses of morphine in her husband's office, to take herself, for severe neuralgic pains, to which she was subject. On Saturday she took by mistake a dose of strychnine. | Almost im- mediately she discovered her mistake, and her husband was called to relieve her. Before he could apply the remedies she died. Mrs. Fox Was a daughter of the late Joshua ©. Gunnell, of Fairfax Court House, and had @ large num- ber of relatives and friends, who will sensibly feel this sad aitiiction.
