Barbara Rothschild, a rich young woman, Bring oe her uncie in Bedi avenue, Wil- lias argh, has sued Frederick Lederer for breach of promise of marriage, laying the dam- ages at $15,000. Young Lederer is employed in the office of the Hamburg line of steamers, and lives at 153 west 15th eee New York. For a long time he bas been pa his attentions to Miss Rothschild, and nM last proposed mar- riage. He was accepted, ‘and the Zth of Jure fixed forthe ceremony. Ever erything went on smoothly until the day before that fixed for the wedding. Then young Lederer signified his intention of “backing down.” The young wo- man’s uncle went to the office in New York where young Lederer was employed to demand an explanation of ie conduct, but could get no satisfaction, except that he would probably sail for Europe in a few days. O’Brien, a lawyer, and made an affidavit ott ng forth the above facts, Mr. © Brien immediately started for the court house to obtain an order for the arrest of the lover. ‘The application was made before Judge Neilson, of urt, who granted the order, fixing oo. ‘The order was placed ‘in the hands of Sheriff Brennan, and voung Lederer was arrested the same day im the office of the Hamburg line of steamers, 61 Broadway.
