Dr. Cox, from the committeee on epidemics, stated that during his absence from this city he bad conversed with many of the prominent sani- tarians of the country on the subject of epide- mic and was convinced that in no other city had their been any more efficient measures taken to ent the spread of such diseases than in this city. He was mach gratified to learn that the operations of this board had been jatched with interest by the sanitary men all over the country, and with whom he had conversed had spoken approvingly of the work done here. He had also conversed with eminent medical men upon the bags sm of the cholera, and had read letters from loscow showing that y the proper precautio sanitary measures the virulence of this disease had been materially checked. He also read a complaint signed by A. K. Browne, Charies Walters, Adotf Cluss and others against the burning of coal-tar on 3d strect by street contractors, making such au intolerable nuisance that housekeepers could not rake their windows; retericd. A YRIZE FIGHT took place last evening on Analostan Island between Pets Hurley and Hack Butler, with seconds, Whackey Stone (for Hurley) and Art King (for Butler.) Both par- ties were badly punished. This fight originated from a similar one which took place on Satur- day evening last on Rock creek, there partics being friends to those who fought on Saturday.
