This morning officer Guy, of the 4th precinct, at the request of the proprietors of the Arlington house, took into custody a middle-aged man, who calls himself W. G. Muir, and says he hails from Sugar Grove, Pa., and is employed to lobby the soldiers’ homestead bill through Congress. He is under the charge of vagrancy, and it is ale leged that he is a professional hotel “ dead- beat.” It is alleged that he has been staying some two weeks: the Arlington, and not set- fling up his scores the proprietors ted their bill last evening, and were told that he would give them a check in the morping for the amount. This morning he was observed but ling up his papers and other chattels prepa’ tory to leaving without squaring lus account when the arrest was made. He acknowledged that he has no bank account or meney. The parties were married in December, 1866, and they lived together until October, 1868, when he was for larceny and sentenced to jail for three months, and in March, 1869, he was sentenced to the Alban: nitentiary for two years and a half. The evi- nce was taken by Mr. J.J. Johnson, and Mr. A. K. Browne appeared for petitioner. Also a decree in the case of Elizabeth Lam- mond agt.
