PHILADELPHIA, Uct. 24. Exaggerated re of the prevalence of small-pox in this city have caused a semi-official statement from the board of health. The total number of cases during three weeks of October was 942; during the same time the deaths were 151. Di three days of the last week the cases reported wire 258; the last three days, 158; showing that the disease was on the decrease. The contagion has the firmest hold in the 12 ward, where 351 cases had occurred. This ward is in good sanitary condition, and the prevalence of the disease is attributed to being built on made ground, which renders the houses damp and accelerates the disease.
