Meeting of the Commission To-Day. Report of the Visiting Committee. ‘The Canal Commission met at the Mayor's oMice at 2 o'clock this afternoon, Mayor Bm- ery, Gen. Michler, Mr. E. Clark, architect Cap- ‘tol extension, and Mesers. Dixon and Kilbourn Deing present. The Mayor called the meeting toorder, and Mr. Sweatiand acted as seczetary. Genera! Michler, from the committe to ex- amine the facitities of Me-sts. Teemyer & Co., reported that they bad vis ted Philadelphia and found that the contgaotors had the necessary machinery ‘for doing the work promptly, and re ta*es officers tnere endorsed them. The General visited the works of the pavement company, and tested the specimens thoroughly, finally grying his approbation, with the remark that it was decidedly the best pavement of the kind he ever saw. The is to be lowered four inches, so as to be flush with the top of the pavement, The first section, Miller pavement, will be com- pleted this week; that is outside of the rail- road tracks: that portion north of the track, from Ist to 4% streets, being ‘inishe nid the lower side being alnealy about’ hait finished. There has been about 14 squares of the Stow pavement laid north of the track, from ith street to between 1 and 6th streets. The third section, on which Robbing pavement will be laid, will be the scene of active operations before many days, the first of the wood having been shipped from Williamsport on Saturday. On the 4th section—the Follansbee—that portion north of the railroad, from 12th to 1ith streets, bas been finished, and the square between ae and 13th streets, south of the track, will finished to-morrow.
