Moore — Tne New Masonic Tenrte—On Saturday night last the Masonic fraternity opened their new temple to the inspection of the public, and andreds availed themselves of the enly oppor- mity they will probably ever hase of seeing the inside of « Masonic lodge room. There was @ constant throng coming and going from 7 to W o'clock. The Masonic lodges meeting in lodge room No. 1 had prepared a bountiful eup- ty of ice cream and sweetmeats in the Grand retary’s room, and the visitors were all wel- comed to their hospitalities. As the night was excessively warm, these refreshments were very acceptable. In the Templars’ banqueting hall above, refreshments were also prepared, and after all the beautiful rooms had been thorough- ly viewed over and over again by the ladies, the as was turned off, much to the disappointment of many of them, who expected to see the goat trotted out. One particular room, which was not accessible on account of the key having been wislaid, fe mle ang by the ladies to be the uses where the goat was kept, and many a was taken at the door knob. Mr. Stoddard, the janitor, was soundly berated for mislaying the key, and Grand Secretary Larner was a) to to have the door opened. "The good- natured and accommodating Grand Secretary did his utmost to oblige them, but not a key in the house would fit this door, and it had to be wen up. The party all enjeyed themselves ugely, many an inquisitive question was sat- isfactorily answered by the Masons, and all Voted the new temple ‘‘ magniticent.”” Tue Frvaxce ComMitter.—The committee Fesumed its session this morning, in the ante- roomof the Council Chamber, and during the day received a number of accou: Some men have presented claims for work under the Ward Commissioners, and the ittee have been unable to tind their names on the rolls. One noticeable fact is that in nearly every case such men were supporters of Mayor Emery. Mr. <. H. Bliss, late Superintendent of Sewers, &c., informs us that the salaries of assistant. axe- men, chairmen, &c., for which aceounts have been filed by the committee, are aithorized by the act of May 9th, 1570. Our statement taat there was no law for it was based on a memo- randum of the committee. Mr. Jas. Fleteher, Secretary of the Commissioners of the Fire De- partment, presented a list of bills which had come into bis postession, amounting to $4,410.10. ‘This amoupt, it is thought, is not much more than half what is due.
