In this communica- tion Mr. Syphax presents his reasons for nou- ventilation of differences among the Trustees of Colored Schools until the matter of said differ- ences shall have been Congressionally investi- gated. He desires the fullest examination into the administration of the Board, fer to present the result of such au examination rather than hisown statement or that of the Bogrd, of which he is a member: Waanineton, D. C., Jan. 7th 1870.—Genile- men:—I have received your letter addressed to the Board of Trustees of Colored Schools, ask- ing us to meet our fellow citizens for the pur-- pose of mutual explanations in regard to existing difficulties. AS an individual member of the Board | would in reply state that while I think that such a meeting as you desire might, on some future occasion, result in good, yet, in view of the fact that the United States Senate has directed one of its committees to examine into the ‘administration of the Trustees of the Colored Schools” and also the condition of said schools, I do not think it would be respectful to that henorable body for any mecting to take place prior to the tinal action of said committee. nder these circumstances, therefore, I think it my duty to decline to attend the ‘proposed meeting.
