MANY CLERKS in the Treasury Department were permitted to leave their desks at noon to- day, or upon the completion of the day’s busi- ness upon their tables, in order to give them a chance to buy their Thanksgiving turkies and “‘fixins.”? THE Navat Court Marriat inthe case of Lieutenant Commander Seely, recently tried and sentenced for cruelty to his subordinates, reconvened at the navy-yardin Boston yester- day, by order of the Secretary of the Navy, for the purpose of revising the sentence declared and forwarded to the Department. DEPALCATIONS IN THE NaV¥—Information has been received at the Navy Department to the effect that serious discrepancies have been discovered in the accounts of four Paymasters inthe Navy, though the defaleation does not reach a very large amount,—the bonds of the officers covering the entire amounts to be ac- counted for. The Department declines for the present to allow the names of these paymasters to be made public, but will immediately make a thorough investigation, and if any felonious in- tent be discovered arrests will be made, and the detaulters brought to trial. THEY TELL a tolerably rough story on the memory of one of the party who left this city the other morning to attend the Georgia State Fair. Arriving at the cars just before they were ready to start, he was discovered in the vicinity of the baggage platform looking in vain for some missing article. On being asked what was lost, he said he was looking for his trunk, which he was afraid had not been sent down from his hotel, and wouldn't his friend, who came down to see the party off, be good enough to look after it when he got back to the house? The friend did as requested, and found, much to his sur- prise, not only had the trunk not been sent, but that the honorable Senator had forgotten to pack it or to make any other arrangements look- ing to an absence from the city—his things, as Greeley calle them, lying around in a wonder- fully loose and promiscuous manner. Fortunate it is for the distinguished Pennsylvanian that he is going to Georgia, where a tooth brush and a bowie knife make up a pretty respectable party dress.
