Pools ats Rese ebedie:: usable EMIGRATION FROM ENGLAND. Ta publisbing not long since some imigra- tion sties we called attention to the fact | that the emigration trom England to this coua- try was lercely oa (he increase. Withina few Gays pert Dr. Oliver, of Durham, and Mr. Brown, of Northumberiand, Eagiand, have been prospecting Monroe county, West Vir- g1ia, with a view to purchase unimproved lands @nd colonize them with English and Scotch farmers. Both gentlemen are members of an influential emigration agency im Grea’ Britain. These agencies are, we are glad to say, bringing over every year thousands of in- telligent laboring mem, thus benefiting both countries. An “International Land and Labor Agency” has been formed at Birmingham, England, to facilitate the settlement in the United States of English farmers, mechanics and laborers of all occupations. A circular by the association sets forth that there are thousands of farmers’ sons trained to the best systems of English agriculture. but whocannot find farms in England on which to apply their skilled industry, though preferring the occu- pation to which they were born and bred. ‘These will constitute a class of purchasers who ‘Will do much to improve American agriculture 1 the New England States. as well as in the West and South. Then there are tnousands of merchants, manufacturers and well-to-do tadermen who cannot divide their businesses ‘with theirsons. nor set them up in their own line of oceupation. These wili form another class of purchasers in America, if put im the Fight way tothat end. And nothing perhaps would more encourage and induce them to do so than some pian which would enable them to make purchases without incurrmg the risk of being victimized or deceived by land specula- tors. This agency. therefore, 1s opened up expressly to iacilitate such purchases, by buy- ing direct from the owner, at the small charge of one per cent , to be paid by each party. By advertising in American papers, and by special agents, lists of f2rms for sale,on the proposed terms, will be obtained im most of the different States. The second undertaking of the ageacy is to supply orcers for English laborers of all cccupations, inclucing skilled mechantes of every trade, iarm laborers, gardeners, grooms, shepherds, &¢.; also, govetnesses, female clerks, houcemaids, dairymaids an¢ domestic servants of all kinds. There is no doubtof the fact that New Ergisnd, the West and the South heed laborers of intelligence, and there is also Eo doubt that England is everstecked by just that class of people er Feuate Evvcation.—Ag the Educational Convention, very re ently in session at Tren- ton.
