[COMMUNICATED. } ANOTHER MISREPRESENTATION ov THE CH Ron ICLE.—We learn that our German fel- low-citizens are very much exasperated at an article that appeared about the disastrous fire of last Friday, in the Chroniele. They justly complain that that paper is trying, with ca- Jumnious falsehoods, to degrade the German population ef this city in the eyes of the rest of our mbabitants There is not a word of tru:h in the tement of the Chronicle, that “two assistant barkeep- ers of Mr. Emrich. while his remains were ly- ing in theruins, and the dead bedy of one of their comrades, Mr. Eirich, was lying upon the floor of the room, continued to dispense in the very face of grim higuors from the bar, death.” Mr. Emrich had only one barkeeper, and he perished with him. He bad no “assistant barkeepers,”’ and his family, As well as every Perso connected with him, had left tne place After the walls of the adjoning house had a Ifany of the half-suffucated firemen, usted by their arduous and perilous la. bors, helped themselves to refreshments, they were welcome to it. and neither the family ner any sensible man will blame them for it. The Chronicle, as usual. tries to turm the ‘minds of our citizens against the Germans; but the latter, as well as all the rest of the honor- able portion of our citizens, will regard such miserable misrepresentation with that con- tempt whicn they so fally deserve We regret ‘urther that the Hen.
