THE State Excts The Senate bad under ceusideratiou last wight the bill to eXtend the Metropolitan Excise Law all over the State, and referred it to the Judiciary Committee to report complete, which is equivalent to ordering it to a third reading. In the meantime, it is proposed to make the Excise Law im the city more stringent in reference to the use of ale on Sunday, and in- stead of removing the most offensive burdens tomake the existing law more offensive. Church When Dip Stavery Crase!—A suit was recently brought before Judge Duvall, in the United States Court at Austin, Texas, to re- cover the value of a note given for some ne- groes in 1864. The detence alleged that the sale, taking place after the emancipation proclamation was issued, was illecai, and that there was ao consideration. The jury beld that the decease of slavery must be dated at the military Oecupstion of the state by t federal troops. The case will go to Washing- ton. RELIEVED.—Captain E. B. Mr. Livingstone was born at Blantyre. upon the banks of the Clyde, near Glasgow, in ini?.
