There are now fifteen Jodges working snc- cesstully under this jurisdiction, the initiations in which during the past year amounted to 450. Orcs CONSERVATIVE ARMY AND Navy Uston — A meeting of the Union was held at Temp ance Hall lastevening, Col. J. R. O'Beirne in the chair, and Capt. C. W. Rudyard secretary. Several persons were nominated for mem- bership. Verbal reports were made from several com- mittees, and the committee on the concert to take pigce Saturday night reported the pro- gramine, which was adopted. Capt. Kaga was app-rinted to fill a vacancy in the committee oa credentials. Capt. Kaga moved that the resolution adopt- ed on the lith, providing for the reference ot all resolutions to the executive committee, be repealed. Capt. Kaga said that by this resola- tion the executive committee were constituted & star chamber, and it appeared as if the asso- ciation intended to pattern after Congress, who Sdopied a measure of the same sort when they provided for the reference of all resolutions relating to reconstruction to aselect committee. After some debate, Capt. Giese and Major Warren arguing im favor of the motion, the subject was laid ever for one week The Union went into executive session, and subsequently adjourned ——_o—__ AFFAIRS IN ALEXANDRIA.— We fidid the fol- lowing in the Alexandria Journal of yesterday afternoon . Johbr ©. Clark, the garroter, who escaped trom our county jail several months since, to- gether with a companior by the name of Trip- lett, was discovered last night by Messrs. Frank Powers and Gilbert Simpson, taking his tod at the restaurant of ;Mr. Jos. Cooney, on Came- ron street, near the market. These officers com- pletely surrounding him, and all retreat being cut off, he surrendered at discretion; and was taken before Justice Beach, who committed bim to hisold quarters.
