He had on the snit stelen from Mr. McElfresh, and on acknowledging the larceny Justice Waiter committed him to jail for court. He also ried the new constitution, the con! ration of which was postponed until = ednesday evening, when an adjourned x will be held. aM Me Williams was appointed a member ot the execuuve committee from the Stone-Catters Association. a GRAND LARCENY —Yesterday morning. Wm. Smith was arrested by officer Miller, of the Toird Ward, upon the complaint ot Henry Martin, charging him with the larceny of one silk dress, one stlk sack, one child’s dress and shawl, and twogent'sshirts. Also, upon com- piaint of Francis Kriback, charging him with the larceny of one Jadir brown dress and other arti . The goods were recovered, and the prisoner was taken before Justice Thomp- sop. who sent bim to jail for court. The ac- cused is a German peddier, and entered the house upon pretense of baving goods to sell. The officers recognize him as having been a prisoner on several aemer occasions. Fine —About three o Selock this morning, the store on the west side of 7th, between G and H streets, occupied by F. Keab, paper-haager, and also As 2 cigar store, was discovered to be on fire. The alarm was given by officer Kim- me! from box 63. and the firemen were quickly op the spot. The flames gained rapidly, and commnontcated to the scouring and cleaning establishment of D. Kleinman, which, with the @st store, were entireiy consumed. Mr. Kieinman loses about #300; no insurance. The bulidings were one-story bricks, and belonged to Mr. Reah, upon whose property, houses and goods there is an insurance of $1,440.
