The Chair announced that the first business Was to seiect & candicate for Alderman, and Mr. Crosby S. AxoTuER MEETING.—Upon the adjournment of the regular meeting in the Seventh Ward, last night, most of the citizens left the hall, but & portion lingered there, apparently with a view to a lively time, in consequence of an excited call fora supplementary Meeting, made by Dr. Allen, who had mounted on the table for that purpose. A Voice.—Debate is not in order. The Chair urged that the meeting hear the resolutions. Dr. Alien made anotber essay, and succeed- ed. after repeated efforis, in getting through with the reading of the resolutions: Whereas a bill has been introduced into Con- gress baving for its object the annuling of our present city charver, and the establishment of % government of commissioners with a dele- gate in Con; is: Therefore, Resolved, That we respectfully and earnest- ly protest against this —— disfranchise- ment, desiring, 38 we do, to have those who tax us and disburse the same, to be respon- sible to us for the said taxes, believing this to be an essential principle in a free government. Resolved, That we are satisfied with our pres- ent form of government, and desire no change in the same. Resolved, That we do not desire any delegate in Congress, and if we are tobe practically disfranchised as proposed, we hope no pro- vision will be made for a delegate. . The resolutions were adopted, on motien of Mr. G. Z. Collison. During the reading of these resolutions loud cheers were given for the nommees of the meeting and for Mayor Wallach. Mr. Barron said he bad some resolu- tions which he would lay before the meeting, and he would abide by the decision of the meeting, whether they were iJaid on the table or not: and he proceeded to read the resolu- tons as follows, but the confusion was se creat that there was not present tem persons who understood their purport: Whereas, by an advertisement in the Even- ang Star, the triends of the Administration are requested to meetin this hall for the purposé of making ward nominations for the Council and Board of Aldermen; And whereas it is not understood by many voters whether the call is intended to embrace those who suppert and are the friends of the national and municipal administrations: be it therefore Resolved, That we, as citizens of the Seventh Ward, deciare that we are friends of both the national and municipal administrations, and think it unwise in us,as citizens looking to the interest of all, to mingle in the future our na- tonal and municipal affairs so as to entangle one with the other; and thst we will faithtally support any and all candidates who are best calculated to represent us in the two boards of Councils, laying aside all feelings in the past, and will support men alone upon their capacity to represent us. Be it further resolved. That this being a meet- ing for ward nominations, yet, as, since the call for this meeting, citizens of the First Ward wave so tar forgotten the faithfal services of our present Mayor, Richard Wallach, as to nominate Dr. W. B. Magruder for the position; therefore, Be ut further resolved. That we cannot consent, Ss citizens of the Seventh Ward, to shut our eyes tothe far ee quahfications of our present efficient Mayor to that of the nominee of the First Ward; and we hereby pledge Hon. Richard Wallach our hearty support at the coming election for Mayor.
