Officer Kenny, of the Atlantic Dock Police, discovered, yesterday morning abont half-past five o'clock, the body of a mantioating into the gap from Buttermilk Channel. The remains were secured and Captain Thonpson notified. ‘The latter, on making a superficial examina- tion, became satisfied thatit wa: the bedy of the late Hon. Some schoo! children statea that they saw & man jump overboard. and from the wescription given, it became evideut that the man was Mr. King. A cord was securely tied about his waist, under his overcoat but over his undercoat. The hair of the head had all been worn off by the action of the water, and the features of the face are almost com- pletely destroyed. The inqnest will be held,on Thursday next, at-half-past two o'clock p. m. It will be remembered that Mr. King had been ill for some time previous to his disap. R arance, and on the morning of the 13th of November last he rose at an unusually early hour and Jeft the Astor House, saying that he ‘was going out for ashort walk. He proceeded to a store in Greenwich street; where he pur- chased a quantity of shot, which he caused to be separated into two bags. which he hung about his neck. He then went on board of one of the Hoboken ferry-boats, at the foot of Bar- clay street, and when the boat had reached the middle of the river he took off his hat, and placed it upon the deck, stepped over the chain and deliberately leaped overboard. ‘The tide must bave carried the body some distance from the spot where he Jeaped in, as the river ‘was thoroughly dragged about that locality sed.
