[From the Cleveland Plaindealer.} On last Friday morning, an athletic young farmer in the town of Waynesburg, took a fair girl, “all bathed in blushes,” from her parents and started for the first town across the Penn- *®ylvania lime, to be married, where the cere- mony could be performed without a license. ‘The bappy pair were accompanied by a sister of the girl, atall, gaunt, sharp-featured female of some thirty-seven summers. The pair erossed the line, were married, and returned to Wellsville to pass the night. People at the hotel where the wedding party stopped, ob- served that they conducted themselves in a rather singular manner. The husband would take his sister-in-law, the tall female afore- said, into one corner of the parlor, and talk earnestly to her, gesticulating wildl all the time. Then the tall female would “put her foot down,” and talk to him an- gry and excited manner. Then the husbana would take his fair young bride into a corner; but he wonld no sooner commence talking to her, than the gaunt sister would rush in be- tween them and angrily join the conversation. The people at the hotel ascertained what this meant tbont nine o’clock that evening. There ‘Was an uproar in the room which had been as- signed to the petals married couple. Female shrieks and masculine “swears” startled the people_in the hotel, and they rushed to the spot. The gaunt female was pressing against the door of the room, and the newly married, most undressed, was barring her out with all might. Ocensionally she would «ick the door far enough open to disclose the stalwart hus- band, in bis Gentleman Greek Slave apparel. tt appears that the tall fema'e insisted upon occupying the same bed with ihe newly wed- ded pair; that her sister was favorably disposed to the arrangement, and that the husband had agreed to it before the wedding took place, and now indignantly repudiated the contract. * Won't yon go away now, Susan?” said the newly married man, softening his voice. “3 aid she. “I wont; so there!” “Don’t you budge an inch!” cried the mar- Tied sister within the room. “Now—now, Maria,” said the young man to bis wife, in a piteons tone, “don't go to cuttin’ up in this way; pow don’t.” “I'll ent up’s much as I wanter!”’ she sharp- ly replied. “Well,” roared the di ite man, throwing the door wide open and stalking out among the crowd, “jest you two wimmin puton your duds and go right straight home, and bring back the old man and woman, —_— grand- father who is nigh on toa hund ; bring ’em all here, ard lll marry the whole caboodle of ‘em, and we'll all sleep together!" The difficulty was finally adjusted by the tall female taking a room. ‘ellsville is enjoy- ing itself over the sensation. S7 it is said that one of Uncle Sam’s contra- band agents in Virginia the other day, tried about a thousand of them in the art of voting. He told them they should be allowed to elect a Commistioner of their own choice to see to their affairs. and directed them all of them in tavor of a Mr. W.to say “aye.” One long unearthly yell went up “aye,” every particn- lar nigger “woteing” with all his might. Then he told all opposed to Mr. W. to vote “no,” and every Coeriges Oe, aac “no” ten times harder than ever. ereupon the agent looked puz- yoters ought to be in—a very warm place. My efforts being successful—the articles being approved and used by the Medical Faculty— I was desirons of placing them before the public, Dut hesitated for some time before concluding to resort to newspaper advertising. knowing of the preyudices that existed in the minds of many against using advertised Medicines or Nostrums, but through the advice of friends and those who had used them this objection was overcome. _ ‘After 18 years’ exertions, commencing in a small Way, the popularity of my articles has extended to all parts of the United States, and widely through- out foreign countries—and this in the face of much opposition. Every means has been resorted to by unprincipled dealers since their merit and suceess have been known—such as advertising larger bot- ties at less price, censuring all other preparations, id even copying my advertisements—but I am ppy to state that out of the many who have re- sorted to this, none have been successful. MY OBJECT in this notice ie to make facts known to the public and respectable dealers, believing, after so many years’ exertions, that the Drugg’ will discoun- tenance such pro ings. and that the reputatien of my articles may not be by the use of in- ferior or spurious ones. Knowing that many may read this article who are unacquainted with me, I append a few re- marks from thore of my native city, and whose es are known in all parts of the world: 2 ~““Being personally acquainted with Mr. H.
