Suspecting that the sow was inthe First Ward, he prosecuted a search for the missing pork, and being satisfied in his own mind that the sow was in possession of Mrs. Ann Riley, residing near 2d and F Streets, he a & warrant which was served by Officer Clements, of the Fourth Ward, on hafrgrvsomn § The porker not bein, fortheoming, a search warrant was obtain and the officer found it, butit was more than he could manage. Officer Hill went to his as- sistance, and the two together, after considera- ble trouble, (amid much excitement among the Sv-'~e raisers, who thinking that the old - catching time had returned,) succeeded in get- ‘ting it into a wagon, which was at once started Zor the Fourth Ward station, followed by about thirty of the neighbors of Mrs. Riley. At the Station the case was heard by Justice Walter. Mr. Muir bad about the same number of wit- nesses, who testified that the hog was his; that he had raised it and had bad it about six years. Mrs. Riley's witnesses were equally cartain that the sow belonged to her, that she had bought it three or four years since from a Mrs. Fitz, and that she was known by the name of «-Bet.” The opposite party also claimed the Bow under the same name. Justice Walter held Mrs. Riley to bail for court and ordered the sow in the custody of the property clerk, ‘who surrendered it to Mr. Muir, who gave bonds in the sum of $100 for the appearance of the sow in court. An array of from twenty-five to thirty new pianos, mostly of S eimway’s celebrated manufacture, is to be seen in the rear: amongst them a beantifully carved Concert Grand, purchased by Admiral Dahlgren.
