Lieree ys it ‘was Tesolved to have a thorough cal ex~ amination of the facts connécted with the disease on board the Atalanta. A revenue cntter has been —— for service to the city au horities by the Secretary of the ury, in addition to rine offer of the of the Navy of any unemployed blockade runner at the Prookiya Navy Yard. As there is now no blockade ranner there suitable for receiving the unimtected passengers of the Atalanta, it is soppored that the old receiving ship North Carolina will be sent to the Lower Quarantine for that pe ar There was a meeting Tues- cay night of eminent physicians and citizens to devise proper measures to be taken in the event of the cholera making its ap; ice in the city. Committees were ap- pointed, and it was resolved to hold a larger meeting oon. They of course would like to come to the city as soon as possible; but all expressed An entire willingness to remain in quarantine as long Ss it was deemed necessary for the pro- tection of the = There was no sickness on board the vessel, all the sick having been re- moved tothe Nightingale, and no new cases bad Ocenrred to-day. From the statement made to me 5 Surgeon of the ~~ and by Dr. Burdett, Deputy Health Officer, there can be no doubt as to the nature of the disease with which this ship has been infected. The vomiting and purging, rice-water disc! sunken features, blue surface, shriveled skin with loss of its elasticity, and the muscular cramps tell the story too plainly that it is “Asiatic Cholera.” V. ery respectfally, &c., Lewis A.
