Proyisions.— Business has been restricted almost entirely to the wants of the local trade, which continues light, but at the close we observe more inquiry for bacon for Southern markets. Stocks are unusually limited, and held with much firmness, prices at the West being relatively higher than here. Sugars.— With a tair inquiry from the trade and refiners, and quite an actiye speculative demand, prices have advanced fully % cent, and close very strong, the stock of all grades being much reduced. Tobacco.—The lower grades of Maryland leaf have been dull and heavy, and we note sale of some 75 hhds. frosted and common at $3. The better poet fy Soe have been quiet but steady. No transactions in Ohio reported. Sales of Kentucky foot up 60 bhds., at unchanged prices. Whisky.—The market for this article, owing to the large quantity of Gov ernment stock offering, has been inactive and depressed. Sales foot up some 800 bbis.
