The delegation of colored men who came here from Bichmond for the purpose of ask- ing the President to make a special inquiry into their condition under the military rule, ‘which they claim is no better than when they ‘were in slavery, had & pretracted interview ‘with President Johnson this morning. The President Mstened to their complaints atten- tively, and is understood to have assured them that he would make the necessary inquiries into the facts of the case. FIRST ARMY CORPS. Lieut. Col. A. Mayor General Parke, ina general order, expresses regret at the loss of Col. King, who was on duty at the headquarters of the Department of Washington, and con- | grstulates him on his well merited promotion, RELEASED R PRISONERS. | Colonel Ludington, Chief Quartermaster of | the Department of Washington, is issuing | transportation to released rebel prisoners at the Yate of about thirty per day, under the recent | order ot the War Department granting trans- | Portation to rebel prisoners to their homes. The | Most of these released prisoners came here | from the camp at Point Lookout. THE SANITARY COMMISSION. Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars | ‘worth of lemons, oranges, vegeiables, &c.,have | been distributed among the troops encamped around Washington by the Sanitary Commis- Sion within the pastfew weeks. Thus far the following is all that has been definitely ascertained in regard to the antecedents of this prisoner, concerning whom there has beenso much speculation: He is the son of the Rev. George Powell, now of Florida, and was raised in Alabama. At the outbreak of the rebellion he joined the rebel army im Georgia, and afterwards was con- nected with the Army of Northern Virginia, where, from certain qualities of reckless da- ring exhibited by him, he was detached for service with Mosby’s guerrillas, and from thence would seem to have been selected, thzough the same qualities, for yet more des- perate work and more gigantic crime. Upon the conclusion of the reading of the proceedings Gen. Hanter asked if the Goy- ernment had any witnesses in attendance. Judge Holt said there were some. Capt. R. Chandler, who was assigned to duty on Gen.
