Opp FELLOw’s HALL.—Fakir of Vishnu, with Startling performances in legerdemain, to be pera by the presentation of gifts to the au- uence. a BoakD OF METROPOLITAN POLICE Com- MISSIONERS.—This Board met at 2 o’clock yes- terday afterneon in their room at police head- quarters, the president, Joseph F. Brown, in tne chair. All the members were present but Messrs. Gideon and Bowen. Mayor Walisch formally turned the Central Guard-bouse over to the Board of Metropoli- tan Police, and Superintendent Richards was instructed to confer with the military authori- ties and desire them to surrender the building to the civil authorities. {In case that desire should be granted, it is the intention on the part of the Board to make it the Central Guard-house; also to be used as the station-house tor the Secend and Third Wards. The expense of this building to the city, while in the possession of the military, has been about thirty thousand dollars, which falls heavily on the Corporation, especially as they bave not received anything for the use of it by the military. No appointment was made to fill the vacancy existing in the board, caused by the decease of one of its members, Richard J. Butt, Esq.. be- cause the Secretary of the Interior was of ©pinion that it would not be proper for the President to make the appointment, as the va- eancy occurred during the session of the Uni- ted States Senate. The treasurer of the board was authorized to contract with Messrs. Wall & Stephens, clo- thiers, for the summer suits for the Metropol- itan police force, they being the lowest bidders —#25 per suit, the same price for which they furnished them last year. The election of a police magistrate tor the Fourth Ward was deferred one week, because of the absence of two of the members of the board. The Board dismissed Elbert F. Turner, 6th Precinct, for violation of the regulations, and accepted the resignations of Wm. Lowe, Sth recinct; Chas. Creran, 7th precinct, and J. R. urdie, 2d do.; and appointed Elijah Acton Peer eg ae SE vice Remegius Barch, deceased; J Howes, Sth do, vice Win. Lowe, resigned; John W. Pumphrey, 6th do., vice E. F. Turner, dismissed: Geo. W.
