Recorder Cox read the returns ef the judges of the fast election, and an- neanced the election of Heury Addison as Mayor of the town: and Jeukin Thomas, John x John Fowler, Wm H Craig, David Edes, J. W. Bronaugh, Jonn S. Mitchell, J.T. Kelly, and J Hieston as (he Common Uouncil. The cath of office was then administered to the members of the Council, ali being present. After afew momenis, Henry Addison, E#q.5 tered the chamber, and was greeted with ap- jase by the large assembly of citizens pre ent to witness the ceremony of organization. | The oath of office as Mayor of the tows, was then administered io him in the presence of the twe boards, by W.H. Tenney, Esq., Oommis- stoner of Police. This ceremoay being concluded, the joint meeting was diesolved, and the Algermen re- tired to their chamber. The Council was called to order by Mr. Orsig. cn whese moon Anthony liyde, Esq, was called to the chair. The Chair announced the first business the election of & permanent pecan aud ap- pointed Mesers. Stake and Kelly as tellers. Upon counting the ballots, the tellers re- rted—tor Mr. Jenkin Thomas, + votes; J.T. | itehel!, 1; Anthony Hyde, 2. Mr. Thomas was declared elected, and was onducted to the chair by Mr. Craig. The President elect thanked the Council for hie evid of their confidence, and assured bem ef hf hearty co operation in every act for the benefitof the town. He did not pre- | tend to make speeches, but did make some pre sions to be a worker, and therefore he would take bis reat, and annoance the next business im order—the election of a clerk. Mr Stake nominatea Wm. A. King. Mr. Craig nominated Thomas Jewell. Atter counting the ballots, the tellers re- orted for Thos. Jewell 7 votes; for W. A. ing 4;and Mr. Jewell was declared elected. Un motion of Mr. Heiston, & message was sent to the Aldermen, announcing the organt- vation of this Board, and that the Board had adopted the rules and joint committees of the late council, and proposed to adjourn till next Friday. at # o'clock p.m., and suggests that sigbt and hour for the futare meetings of the two Boards. Ox motion of Mr. Stake, tne rules ef the last Conncil was adopted untal orther whee ordered A message was received from the Aldermen Announcing concurrence in the preposition of sbie Board. Mr. Hyde gave notice of Bis intention to in- woduee @ resolution to provide for a revision of the laws of the Corporation. The Board adjourned till Friday evening next, ats o'clock. Board of Aldermen.—The Board met at 8 o’cloek, and was called to order by Recorder = all the members being present except Mr. ing. A message was cent to the Common Council, notifying that Board that the Aldermen were yeady to go into joint session for the purpose of opening the returns of the judges of the late election, and witness@g the qualification of the feopigs elect and the new members of the lower ard. The Alcermen then retired to the Council Chamber, and upon their return a ecommuni- cation was received from the lower board an- nouncing that they bad organized and were prepared to proceed to business. Also, pro- posing the joint rules and committees for the government of the two boards, and fixing the future meetings on Friday evening ofeach week at ¥ o'clock. The propositions of the lower board were eoncurred in, and the Aldermen adjourned. Baltimore Markets. Ooffee— Market quiet ut firmer, 20¥a21¥ cen ee gold being demanded for Rio as to quelity. Flour—Sales on ’Change were confined to small lots of mixed brands Howard street su- per at $11 per barrel. All descriptions closed — ana Baltimore high grades are 25 cents wer. Rye Flour—Small sales reported at $9.50a 98.75, the latter an outside figure tor first guality. Corn Meal—Nothing of importance doing. Grain— Offerings at the Oorn Exchange footed Bp 6,000 busheis wheat, 20,0(0 bushels corn, and 650,000 bushels oats. Transactions in wheat | were light, but showed noalteration in prices, white bringing 270a2e5 cents, according to qual- ity, and inferior to very good Pennsylvauia red 255a260 cents. Corn was lower and closed heavy. Sales of 6,000 bushels good and prime white at 1588163 cents, the latter an outside figure; 3,000 bushels Sane do. at 159a155 eents; 6,000 bushels Prime yellow at 160 cents, and 2,000 bushels inferior do. at 153a155cenis. Oats sold at 95a96 cents, weight, in small lots, au rye at 170 cents per bushel. * Molasees—with no sales reported. quotations for this article continue nominal. New clayed Cuba at 70275 cents, Muscovado do. at 75880 cents, English Island at 65a75 cents, and Porto Rico at 80a90 cents. Provisione—Bacon remains quiet and rather Beavy, but barrelled meat and lard are firm. Sugars—Demand moderate, but pri¢es steady for all grades. Seede—Clover was dull and nominal at Sita $18.50; timothy at 6.50a¢6.75, and flaxseed at $3.65a$3 70. Salt—Bueiness in this article is atastand till, and prices are altogether nominal.
