SS TRUSTEES OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.—A spe- cial meeting ot the Trustees of Public Schools was held jast evening, Dr. Walsh in the chair. Mr. Wilson stated the object of the meeting Was to determine the best mode of distributing the annual report, which, inasmuch as to merit it surpassed any preceding report, should be more generally distributed. After the subject was conversationally dis- cussed, it was decided that 1(0 be sent to each trustee for distribntion, and that the secretary (Mr. Morsel!) and Mr. Wilson distribute those to be sent to the school boards ont of the city. Mr. Tustin read from the report of the Coun- cil proceedings an accoantof & resolution of- fered in that body in relation to children of non-reeidents attending school. and stated that he did not believe that any such were attend- ing the schools. He thought the resolution re- flected on the board, and he offered a resolu- tion making it the duty of the trustees to ascer- tain and report to the board if or not, since his or her admission, the place of residence of the parents of any pupil has been removed outside ibe corporate limits Mr. Miller suggested that if there were any of the ceses referred to, it was where the pa- rents had changed their residence, moving out of the cily into the suburbs. Mr. Rhees did not think there were any cases except such as Mr. Miller sugeested. He thought if the teachers were required to fur- nisb a list of their scholars, with their present residence, the facts would be sooner got at. Mr. Wilson said that the inquiry seemed to be whether or not such children were in the schools to the exclusion of children of bona fide citizens, and he suggested that whem the action of the Council! was final it would be time te act on the resolution. Mr. Hitz thought the whole proceeding a Singular one. The Councils wanted the chil- dren of Washingtonto grow up wise-acres to the exclusion of Uniontown, and there must be adifference between Washingtonians and Uniontown children. If he did not mistake, some of the trustees did not at present reside in Washington, and he did notsee why the Council did not inquire into that fact. Ali the trustees denied that they had ever admitted the children of non-residents. Butif, while the child was at school, the parents moved out of the city, they did not feel com- pelled to torn the child out. Some of the tras- tees said they had pupils in exactly that condi- tion, and they did not teel that they were vio- lating the law by retaining them. After some further debate the resolution was Jaid over informally. SS LARCENY OF A TABLE AND CONTENTS.— On Monday, Officer McElfresh arrested W.
