Mr. Anthony offered a resolntion, which was adopted, instructing the Committee on the Conduct of the War to inquire into the facts connected with the assault on Petersburg on the 13th of July. 1-61. In THE HovsE yesterday— Mr. Ashley, of Obie, introduced a pill to guarantee to certain States subverted or over- thrown by rebellion, a republican form of sov- ernment; which was ordered to be printed Mr. Ashley gave notice that on the 6th of January next he weuld call up the pending joint resolution from the Senate, proposing & constitutional amendment for the abolition of slavery throughout the country, and that he ‘would demand a yote upon the resolution the Monday following. The joint resolution fixing the true construc- | tion and meaning of so much of the internal Yevenue act as relates tu the tax on tobacco and igars. Headquarters First Army Corps, I—AS TO ENLISTED MEN. 1. All enlistments and musters in are tobe | | made in this city. 2. Any Veteran, who has seryed two years, bas been honorably diseharged, and is physi- cally qualified, may enlist in the Corps for one, two or three years. 3. These enlisting will receive from the Gov- ernment a bounty of $300 as soon as they are ™mustered in, and, in addition, the regular in- stalments from the Government, in proportion to the period of enlistment, as follows: $100 for one year’s service, one-third paid on enlist- ment; $2) for two years’ service, one-third on enlistment; #300 for three years’ service, one- third on enlisiment. 4. They will be credited to the quota of the district in which they or their families may be domiciled and will, therefore, be entitled to local bounties. 5_Free transportation will be furnished them to Washington by any Provost Marshal. Itis only necessary that the applicant should satis-* fy the Provost Marshal that he comes under the provision of paragraph 2, and that the ap- plication is made in good faith. 6. On arriving in Washington and reporting at the Soldiers’ Rest, Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Depot, Veterans will be cared for and | enlisted and paid premptly. They will be sent to the camp of organization, Camp Cliffburne, and wili be formed into companies and regi- ments as they arrive—personal preferences being regarded when the good of the service will permit. 7. The best arms in the possession of the Government will be furnished these troops, and they will be allowed to retain their arms when honorably discharged.
