John Hitz, Esq., appeared as a Trustee from the Third School Diatriet, in plaee of Dr. C. W. Davis, resigned. The Chair presented & communication from Rev. Dr. Samson, president of Colambian Uol- lege, tendering a scholarship in said college to the most meritorious pupil of the public schools at the coming examination. On motion, the communication was acce pted, with the thanks of the board for the favor; and Messrs. Wight, Hitz, Wilson and Murtagh were appointed a committee to examine the candidates for the scholarship. The examination will take place onor before the last day ot the distribution of premiums. Mr. Miller, from the committee on text-books, made areport. But few changes are recom- mended, and these are the adding of Davies’ University Arithmetic; the striking from the list Bullion Analytical Grammer and substi- tuting Kerl’s.
