INTERESTING Wepbinc.—A very interesting ‘wedding ceremony took Place at Georgetown on Saturday, in the marriage of ‘Capt. sames V. Lawrence, G.S. U.S. A., to Miss Charlotte E, Southworth, daughter of the distinguished authoress, Mrs. E. D. E. N. Southworth. ‘The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. Macneheimer, of the Episcopal church, at 11 A. M., at « Prospect Cottage,” the beautifal suburban residence of Mrs. Southworth, inthe ‘presence of come three hundred guests, in- cluding very many of the hterary and artist folk of note in the country. The groom is the brave young officer who (then Adjutant Law- rence) at the last battle of Bull Runsaved and bore off the regimental celors and two com- pany colors of the2d N. Y. heavy artillery, ‘which regiment it will be remembered bore the brunt of Stonewall Jackson's fierce on- slaught for some four hours. He comes legi- timately by his gallant blood being a near rel- ative of the heroic Lawrence of « Don’t give up the ship” memory, to whom he is said, by the way, to bear a striking resemblance. The sweet young bride was dressed in white glace silk covered with tulle, with wreath and boquet of erange blossoms. Her bridesmaids (three) were dressed in white tarleton over white silk, with wreaihs and boquets of white rose buds. They were :—ist. Miss. Hooker, canghter of Licut. Hooker of the regular army; 2d. But whenthe man soon Satter presented himself for admission to the chhrch, he stated that he was led to Ubrist by fome touching stories which his little daughter had brought home to hint from the Sabbath school. “T confess that I felt a few Misgivings when I introduced the little maid with her « jockey’ and scarlet feather to the pulpit; especia! ally as the honse was crammed with nearly two thou- sand. But 1 remembered that Father Abra- ham had lately gone to the United States Cap- {tol to hear Miss Dickinson, and so I Rid be- pind the illustrious precedent. Her speech wae seascned with the salt of true religion, and it would have aided rather than hindered the tre ceepentre revival feeling.
